Physicals. Boys are required to have a "class 1 and 2"
physical form to attend camp. (A class 3 form will also work.)
The class1 part is filled in by the parent and must have a signature within the last 12 months.
The class 2 part is from the doctor, and must be signed within the last 36 months.
We generally staple this years class 1 to an older class 2,
or have the parents re-sign and date the older class 2.
Please check to make sure that the class 2 we have on file is less than three years old.
Adults must also have a physical.
Those under 40 should use a class 1 and 2 (or a class 3) physical signed by a doctor within
the last 3 years, those 40 or over need a class 3 physical form with a doctors signature within
the last 12 months. We would like to collect the physical forms well before camp.
Blank forms are available from the troop.
This should be done ASAP Please rush them in!
Transportation.. We will meet in the church parking lot at 5:45 am,
Sunday July 13. We will be back at the church parking lot at 5:00 Saturday, July 19.
Bring a sack lunch or money for a burger on the way down
(we will stop in ??? for a burger and to re-group).
Camp Rules.
The Scout Law is the law of the Camp.
There are a few special cases that need extra explanation.
Fireworks of any kind are stricktly prohibited in camp. Do NOT bring them!!
Do not bring firearms or ammunition to camp. If you bring a bow to camp it must be stored by the archery instructor. NO BOWS in the Campsites. Do not enter another troop's campsite unless you are invited by someone from that troop. The same courtesy applies to the staff living areas.
Pets are not allowed in camp.
Swimming is allowed only at the waterfront or when the eight-point safe swim defense plan
is being followed. Do NOT go swimming or boating on your own.
Do not leave the camp site without permission.
General information.
We will run a troop store and have a troop bank again this year to prevent misplaced money.
That means we will take your cash at the church and write down how much you had,
and keep it all together so you don't have to worry about losing it.
When you need cash for items like merit badge materials or a candy bar,
we'll hand over just what you need. We'll have our own candy and pop to sell to you so you
won't spend 3 hours waiting to buy one.
It is recommended you bring $30-$40 for trading post items.
Some merit badges will raise the cost.
Merit badges. Younger boys should concentrate on earning ranks.
One or two merit badges should be plenty.
Middle boys should work on about 3 merit badges.
It is possible to earn more,but they need some time for fun too.
Older boys may choose to earn a few badges, BSA Lifeguard,
or some of the high adventure options. Boys should choose their badges now,
buy the merit badge book, and read it BEFORE going to camp.
Some badges can not be completed at camp unless some requirements have been done at home first.
Requirements last years camp suggested be done at home are in parenthesis.
AQUATICS BADGESCanoeing: Must pass swimmers test.
A little harder than rowing. We normally have a canoeing trip in the fall,
and we require this badge to go.
Lifesaving: Must have earned the Swimming merit
badge before beginning this badge. Need to be a strong swimmer and work hard to complete.

Rowing: Must pass swimmers test.
Easiest of the boating badges.
Small Boat Sailing: An advanced badge.
The camp encourages boys to have Swimming, Rowing, Canoeing, Lifesaving and First Aid
before starting this badge.
Swimming: An average to better than average swimmer should complete this badge. (Eagle required badge) It is a prerequisite for Lifesaving. We have a counselor who will help the boys earn this badge before camp so they can work on lifesaving in camp, if they want to do that.ECOLOGY BADGESEnvironmental Science: This badge will take a great deal of time if done at camp. I strongly encourage boys to start it a month before camp and complete it there. Do the observations and report here,and take a partial with you to camp. Our troop counselor is Mr Rohrer,866-0553. (Eagle required badge) For 2002, Mr Rohrer has promised to run a class in the spring.
Fish and Wildlife Management: Not one of the easier badges, do some of the work at home before camp. (5a, 5b, 5d, 6c, 7d) Also read up on current hunting and fishing laws.
Forestry: Generally a second or third year badge. Doing some of the things in advance will help a lot. (5b)
Geology: Moderate difficulty. Not on last years list.
Some collections to do in advance.
Insect Study: A hard badge.
Not on last years list. Several things need to be done before camp.
Mammal Study: Probably the easiest of the nature study badges.
Even easier if some of the things are done at home. (2, 3c, and 4a,4b, or 4e.)
Soil and Water Conservation: Listed as a difficult badge.

Weather: Medium difficulty. SHOOTING
SPORTS BADGESArchery: A difficult badge.
There is a charge for the arrowkit.
If a boy is already a good archer he will finish this badge,otherwise he probably won't.
If a boy just wants to shoot the bow,he can do that during open archery times.
Fishing: Doing requirement 7 before camp is recommended. The rest is easy.
Rifle Shooting: A difficult badge.
There is a charge. The target rifles are heavy, and younger boys are very unlikely to complete the badge.
Older boys with plenty of experience might finish.
Boys who just wish to shoot may do so during open times.
SCOUTCRAFT BADGESCamping:
Must have 20 nights of camping with the troop. (Eagle required badge)
We usually suggest boys do this with Mr Stock, rather than at camp.
The camp says 8a must be finished at home.
Also bring a pack.
Cooking: Medium difficulty. Do 1, 2a, and 2c before camp.
Emergency Preparedness: An Eagle required badge. The camp says this is a difficult badge.
First Aid: We prefer boys do this with our troop counselors at home. Medium difficulty.
Orienteering: A difficult badge involving advanced compass work. (7a, 7b)
Pioneering: A good second year badge. Younger boys may not know the knots and lashings well enough. Building towers can be fun.
Wilderness Survival: A good second year badge. Some first year boys will do well. There is an emergency kit (Req 5) you will have to make and bring from home.HANDICRAFT BADGESBasketry: This is one of the easiest badges in camp. There is a cost for the basket kit.
Leatherwork: Another easy badge. There is a cost.
Woodcarving: Another easy badge. There is a cost.OTHER AWARDSBSA Lifeguard: This is not a merit badge.
Will take most ofthe week.
Boys should have Swimming, Rowing, Canoeing, Lifesaving,and First Aid merit badges before camp,
and current CPR certification.
Mile swim: Not a merit badge.
Snorkeling: Not a merit badge.

Make sure and give your physical form with current signature and all prescription medications and instructions to the Scoutmaster.
Please leave perscription medicines in the original container.

RULES OF THE ROAD
1. All units must check in with Campmaster or Ranger before proceeding to campsite.
2. All units must check out with Campmaster or Ranger before leaving camp.
3. All vehicles must remain in designated parking lot (NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE)
4. No standing timber (large or small, dead or alive) is to be cut without permission.
5. Cut no conifers. Cut no brush or dig along the bluff.
6. Units responsible for defacing of property will be charged cost of replacement.
7. No swimming in Lake Chamberlain, unless Safe Swim Defense is used.
8. All open flame fires to be at least 10 feet from any building or shelter.
9. It is each units responsibility to leave wood piled at shelter for next units use.
10. All liquid fuel cans must be left and locked in car, stoves and lantern use will follow the National Policy on liquid fuels.
11. ALL GARBAGE to be taken out of camp.
12. All fires, whether cooking or heating, are to be put out before leaving camp.
13. No dishwashing at water taps.
14. EMPHATICALLY FORBID ALL members of your unit to climb on the bluffs, play in the surf or on the logs near the ocean. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in being asked to leave the camp.
15. No rock or stick throwing.
16. NO WEAPONS (including pellet guns) of any type.
17. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES on council camp property.
18. Absolutely no dogs or pets allowed.
